When I’m overwhelmed by a situation, feeling stuck in the mud of emotions, I go out for a hike. I feel like drowning in the mud of anger, jealousy, fear, attachment… everything seems complicated and I cannot see clearly. The mountains help me to create space and to see things from a broader perspective. If hiking is not available, breathing also opens up for new space. I try to remove myself from the situation and watch it from a wide open space. Suddenly, like a blessing, a new perspective may arise. The “small I” goes back to where it belongs and The Great takes charge.
