No half truth

no-limbo

We go through several shifts, deaths and rebirths, in one life. Like a snake that changes the skin. It is the same snake but, at the same time, it is not. The snake went through an experience that is now part of her. Some transformational processes can result in a complete new direction, new matrix of values, as if we were enjoying a movie and, suddenly, we realize it is just a story and we leave the room to go on our internal journey. A sense of “no time to lose in a plastic life anymore” and a call to reconnect to our authentic self. However, sometimes we may feel stuck in the path. Not moving forward, nor backwards, like held by something and not knowing where to go. We start looking for external reasons that may justify our paralyzation but, deep inside, we know that the only thing and person that can hold us back is ourselves. When we try to squeeze the new consciousness into the old movie (old patterns), we feel lonely, frustrated and stuck. It seems we don’t fit anymore into the old clothes and there is nothing new to wear. Why do we cling to the old? Because it is known to us. We long for freedom, but we want security. I’m afraid they cannot coexist. Letting go and leaving behind believes, ideas, habits, sometimes friends, job, relationship, house… is necessary to open space for the new. I cannot breathe in fresh air if I do not breathe out and allow emptiness first. This does not mean that we have to forget our past. On the contrary, we are grateful and honor all experiences that are part of who we are and that helped us to arrive here and now. Buddha’s teachings says that the boat can be abandoned once we have reached the other shore. The boat is helpful to cross the river, but to carry it on my back on the path would be too heavy. Being stuck and trapped in the old patterns with a new consciousness is like living a half truth, a kind of limbo. No lie, no truth. Once we started the journey, we shouldn’t stop until we reach the eye of the hurricane, the most calm place where we may find peace.
